What if I’m nervous?

It’s understandable to feel nervous about your first session, especially if you haven’t run for years or don’t know anyone. You can ask us anything before you come.

You can walk

Short jogs alternate with walking breaks. You don’t have to keep up with people who already run regularly.

We’ll explain the session

Say hello to the leader when you arrive. We warm up together, and the beginner group stays together.

Ask us first

Unsure whether this is right for you? Talk to Conor about your running, including any attempts to get started on your own.

Beyond Bishop’s Cleeve

Cheltenham beginner sessions are included too

Your club membership includes the available beginner groups in Cheltenham at no extra cost. The Beginner Trial also lets you use available beginner sessions in Bishop’s Cleeve and Cheltenham during your three weeks. Choose the days that fit your week. You don’t need to attend every session.

Tuesday evening · Pittville

Gentle jogging with walking breaks alongside other beginners. You do not need to be fast or run continuously.

Thursday evening · Cheltenham

Beginner group

Another evening of walking and jogging with a beginner group. The meeting point changes seasonally between Prestbury and Hales Road; check the schedule.

Sunday morning · Prestbury

Beginner walk–jog group

Start your Sunday with a supported beginner group. Longer runs are available later, when you are ready for them.

Adventure Runs · for later

Adventure Runs are separate trail outings with event-specific distances and groups. They are not included in the Beginner Trial or a default beginner walk–jog session. Find out about Adventure Runs when you are ready to explore.

Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime sessions are for established runners, rather than beginner walk–jog groups. Arrange your first beginner session with the club and check the current schedule before travelling.

What to expect

What happens on your first evening

Come 5–10 minutes early and tell the leader it’s your first session. We’ll explain what we’re doing before the warm-up.

  • A supportive group that stays together
  • Cool-down stretches and time to chat
  • Tips and encouragement between sessions

Try the group before committing: the three-week Beginner Trial is £18, paid once, with no automatic renewal. You don’t have to join at a point that feels too hard. Your start date depends on the programme stage; the rules below explain how we arrange it.

We’re happy to talk first

Tell us a little about yourself, or book a short call with Conor if you’d rather ask a few questions.

Walking and jogging · a progressive programme

When will my three-week Trial start?

We build up the jogging gradually, so the right time to join depends on where the group is in the programme. Here’s how we work out your start date.

Intake, challenge and programme weeks 1–4

Choose a date within ten days

Choose any start date from the day you buy up to ten days later, including both days. Your three weeks begin on that date.

Buying in week four and choosing a week-five start? Talk to Conor to agree it first. Payment alone doesn’t confirm that week-five start, and your trial days don’t begin until the date you agree.

Current block: programme week one began .

Programme weeks 5–7

Agree your start with Conor

Book a call with Conor after paying so you can agree a start date that works for your running. Your trial days wait until that date. For this arrangement, you aren’t restricted to the next ten days.

Weeks five to seven begin .

Programme week 8 until the next intake starts

Start with the next intake

Your trial starts on the first day of the next intake period. That’s earlier than programme week one. Your three weeks begin on that intake date, and the ten-day limit doesn’t apply.

Week eight begins . The next intake starts .

Your three weeks don’t begin until your start date. If you are unsure which rule applies, ask Conor before paying.

Dates follow UK local time.

A one-off payment, with no automatic renewal. Continuing into membership is a separate choice and payment.

Your next step

Register your interest

Tell us a little about your running and we’ll help you choose your first session.

Registering interest does not take payment or create a membership. In the form, choose your current running level.
